| - Move over Singapore Flyer! You are no longer the tallest observation wheel in the world! The High Roller at The Linq in Las Vegas is!
Nestled behind The Imperial Palace, er I mean, The Linq is a giant wheel of metal and glass bubbles that does one rotation inside of 30 minutes!
My gf and I were lucky that our timing was impeccable because we arrived when one of the pods was almost out of entrance range, that there was only one other couple inside it. Unlike the other pods where there were more than 6-8 people inside! It is almost as if we had the pod to ourselves, almost!
While the overall environment controlled cabin was pleasent, the seating could have been improved by using padded seats instead of the hard, sterile plastic that awaited our butts! Not that it mattered too, too much as you would find yourself standing most of the time in this ride marveling at the bright Vegas strip lights below!
What is definitely sorely needed is a way to disable the annoying infomercial playing on the screen inside the cabin. The host of the informative show was tolerable the first 5 minutes, but a whole 30 minutes of badly scripted jokes and anecdotes, one has had enough crass! Perhaps there should be a way to switch to a radio station, or to satellite radio playing music instead?
The High Roller is best experienced during night time, or at dusk. Although, I wouldn't mind going during the day if the oppportunity came up.
The selections at the pre-boarding bar could be a little bit better, as it was quite pricy. Like most tourist attractions, you can't bring your own food or drinks, even if it is Vegas where one could get intoxicated on the strip itself!
Happy high rolling!
