This hotel is the reason that Yelp needs a zero-star review.
1. room smells like cheap air freshener and smoke, causing allergies. wouldn't change my room.
2. they wouldn't let my pizza delivery guy in the building -- kicked him out twice. Finally we connected and when I went down, a manager picked a loud and aggressive fight with the pizza guy.
3. no room service, ok, but the food (though it looks good) makes me think they must be vertically integrated with Immodium.
4. called late at night to add a night to my reservation (bc of desperate travel situation) and not only was the operator clearly half asleep (if not nodding off during the call), she messed it up and I ended up getting locked out the next day. I had her reassure me three times that she had hooked up the reservations and that I would not be locked out. it took an HOUR of BS to get back in, which made me late. Everybody shrugged and nobody seemed to care much.
5. I got a call saying there was a problem with my credit card -- I went downstairs and they told there was no such problem at all.
6. The "free wifi" does not work. At all. Ever. You can get on the network but not one site will ever load. So be ready for extra data charges on your phone -- might as well stay at the shangri-la for what it will cost you if you have business to do.
In conclusion, I'd have preferred a hostel or actual budget hotel. This is a fancy hostel at luxury hotel prices. I cannot say it clearly enough: avoid avoid avoid.
