WOW!
Pittsburgh is the true home of the Klondike, but Leona's is the supreme ruler of ice cream sandwiches.
First off- these sandwiches are BIG. Like you need two hands to hold them (and protect them from other mouths). The flavor combinations range from expected to experimental. I also like that Leona's is all over the city. They are in Row House Cinema and Zeke's Coffee and dozens of other places. It's almost like the sandwiches are flirting with you, just showing up in the places you already love, looking yummy.
Also, these sandwiches are lactose-free, so they love you even if your tum usually doesn't love dairy products.
The combinations I have had are:
Cinnamon Ice Cream on Oatmeal Lace - subtly spicy ice cream and comforting oatmeal with a crisp.
Lavender on shortbread - Floral and buttery
Vanilla on Chocolate Chunk - Milk and cookies without the mess
Peach on shortbread - Tastes like sitting on a swing chair, in Georgia, on a wrap-around porch spinning yarns and drinking sweet tea.
