| - My family ate here on Christmas eve. The pros: crawfish bisque was excellent, the serve was great, the deserts were very good - large portions. The cons: my Crawfish platter which included both Etoufee and fried crawfish was awful. The etoufee had a dark brown gravy like taste that overwhelmed the few small pieces of crawfish it included over brown/dirty rice. It was nasty, I picked out a few of the crawfish, but their flavor was overwhelmed with dark sauce -- I didn't eat. The fried crawfish was a little better, but instead of being lightly fried, it was very small pieces of crawfish with heavy breading. Basically, my meal was a waste - so I really didn't bother to eat much of it. On the flip side, the rest of my family thought the place was pretty good -- not excellent, but good. I would recommend avoiding the fried platters. My son ordered the chicken, he rated it as nothing special. I should mention that the noise level in the restaurant was extremely loud - so much so, there was a strong desire to exit as soon as possible, even possibly boxing the deserts to go home and eat instead.
Based on this experience, I have no plans to return.
UPDATE: I guess Pappadeaux reads these reviews as they contacted me shortly after posting. They asked if I'd be willing to give them another try when in Phoenix if they sent me a gift certificate. I agreed, but even after providing address information, no certificate was ever received. (In all fairness, I do know others who have visited other Pappadeaux locations and say it's great. It just wasn't my experience.)
