| - Came here for a lunch/brunch with my boyfriend, it is attached to the Mint Museum but you do not have to actually have to enter the museum to reach the restaurant. There is a side entrance you use. The decor is very nice and the chairs were very comfortable haha.
We got the smoked duck and shared a plate of eggs benedict. We also got a scoop of their ice cream, peach buttercream, two handrolled truffles, and the peach cobbler. Yes, we got a lot of dessert.
The smoke duck was pretty good, still had duck flavor, tender. Came with a very hard biscuit pita type bread and mustard seed spread on the side. It all combined to be very tasty. The eggs benedict were great! Eggs were perfectly cooked and spilled all over the rest of the stack once pierced and everything combined perfectly. The ham used was maybe a tad salty but the spinach balanced that out.
The peach buttercream was very good, had a more icy texture but was still smooth so maybe that's what they were going for? Handrolled truffles were amazing, the outside powder was bitter chocolate powder and combined perfectly with the sweet dark chocolate truffle inside. The truffle was extremely smooth and was quite big haha. The peach cobbler was a deconstructed one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, peaches in a sauce, and then cobbler on the bottom. It was actually one of the best peach cobblers/pies I've ever had because the crust/bottom was so good. It was like the outside part of the crust but all over. You definitely need the ice cream to bring the full flavor out. We ended up putting the rest of our peach buttercream scoop in there with the cobbler.
Prices are a little steep so be prepared for that. Not sure how much the duck was, under $10 i think, eggs benedict were about $16, 1 scoop of ice cream was $3, truffles were $3 each i think, cobbler was around $10. Total bill including tip came out around $50, so not too bad, but not definitely not cheap so don't think you'll be going to the usual museum cafe.
