The food here is amazing. Excellent well-thought out Italian fare.
However, when dining at high-end restaurants, I expect a similar level of service. Tonight our server was mediocre at best. Barely checked on us at all. Never asked us if we would like anything to drink besides water. The kicker was serving half our party their desserts while the other half didn't even get to order dessert. Then, they proceeded to clear all the plates and served the other party their course afterwards.
I also found it interesting that the server only addressed the man at the table and never the woman. Too bad for him, it's the woman who paid the check tonight and decided on the tip! It's the 21st century. Our party clearly wasn't out on a romantic date where it might have been chivalrous to only address the man. I suppose misogyny is alive and well at this establishment.
Sadly, the service here used to be excellent but has clearly gone down the tubes. I wonder if Scott Conant realizes his restaurant is not keeping up the same standards as in previous years.
