  • My 15 month old golden retriever has severe allergies that I have been desperately trying to get under control for 9 months. I have tried many different brands of food and flavors over the months and nothing has worked. He seems to be allergic to everything. Sometimes a new symptom will present on a food and then I am back to the store with that food to try another. This store just opened near my home and I went in and right away and they were very helpful, especially the manager. She listened to my issues and offered her advice and suggestions. At this point I have already tried many foods that didn't work, but was open to suggestions. I went through my dogs entire history with her, and then over the next 7 visits or so, had to tell every single employee my dogs history because they all have their opinions and suggestions and ask me, which is fine, but by now I am just exasperated with explaining and each time I go in with I have a small hope that something else I found online and did my research on, might just be the food that works. They all ask me the same questions. A one point the manager got "HONEST" with me and told me I am switching the food too often and that is what is causing the diarrhea, except one problem, my dogs do not have diarrhea or did not at that time. She had not followed along with the history, which is okay, but this is why I don't like to explain it to eight different people, it makes what is already overwhelming, even more so. Nonetheless, she assured me that I could bring back a "bag every day if I needed to and that it was no skin off her back; they get a credit for it". She even looked over my dog and suggested it was a potato allergy and suggested a food, which I went along with because I just do not know what it is, and either does my Dr. and tests are unreliable and expensive. I returned it though because it did not work either. I have returned 6 bags they told me today and they have flagged my account, and neither the store or Zignature specifically, will not allow any more returns from me. I think I returned 2 of their bags, maybe 3 because none worked. The last one, the lamb, caused diarrhea really bad, and gas on my younger golden, the same issue as before on the lamb, but I was told that it was the Earthborn lamb that probably caused the diarrhea because it is so rich and to try a different brand but stay with lamb. Okay, I like the Zignature, but no, same issue. She has liquid diarrhea, gas (which she does not get on other foods), and my male has a new ear infection - all within 4 days. The first bag of Zignature I tried was because this other customer told me she had the same issues with allergies and the turkey worked for her. I tried it, but did not work for mine. So, long story short, they will not accept anymore returns and flagged my account and do not care that my dog has bad allergies and that I need to find a food that works for him - they are fully aware of my situation, and saw my dogs inflamed ears on two occasions and his hot spot. But, apparently, they do not care about that. There are hundreds of foods to choose from and thousands of combinations of ingredients and so much to know, and it takes time to find what works, but I guess their cut off is 6 bags. According to them, their return policy is discretionary. It does not matter if you have receipt and your bag is more than half full, you will be flagged by their regional manager, (I suspect via prompting from the manager) if they just decide they don't want to serve you any longer. I went to Pet Food Depot the right after they were so rude to me, and they assured me they do not do that to their customers, so I will just be shopping there from now on. If I actually find something that works, I will order from chuys - their customer service and refund policy is exceptional! This place is very friendly at first, but of you have a problem dog, they will turn their back on you very fast so beware.
