  • Act is a cross between a speakeasy and a circus. The concept of the nightclub is actually interesting. So why am I awarding two stars? Let me break it down. PROS: - I learned from an Act promoter that Wednesdays are for industry and locals. Guys, you don't have to pay the $40 to enter. - Aesthetically pleasing. Decor is reminiscent of a 1920's-style club. - The acrobats are amazing and their performances are hypnotic. One can't help but stand and watch in awe. There's performers on stage and above the bar, as well. - There are couches situated near the stages for general guests to sit on, not just for those who purchased bottle service. CONS: - Small space and can get overcrowded, but that's nothing new about Las Vegas clubs. - Restroom has unusually dark, red lighting. Good luck trying to apply makeup or wash your hands. - No dance floor, unless you want to count the small space in between the couches and the stage as a dance floor; although, you can dance on the stage if a performer invites you, or if you're so drunk you just invite yourself. However, I hardly saw many people dancing. Instead, most people were entranced by the performers and walking characters. - RUDE STAFF. I'd like to mention that the staff that I did interact with (bouncers, bartenders, and washroom attendants) were professional. Unfortunately, there are rude staff members at this place, rude as in the douchebag variety. During my first and last visit, a male employee pulled us up from our seats to dance with him. He attempted to coax us to dance on stage with the sexy Marie Antoinette-like dancer with her flashing powdered wig. We politely declined, yet he continued and said to me: Dude: "You're in Vegas! Have fun! You have to go on stage, c'mon!" Me: "Oh, we're actually from here." Dude: "OH. You're one of THEM. I've heard of types like YOU." *slithers away* Types like me? What does that mean? Oh, a local who could bring in club-loving friends and family members, AKA: MORE BUSINESS? Local or not, it's not a good idea to insult customers. On a second occasion, I was walking to the Grand Canal shops with a friend who was intoxicated and not feeling well. A promoter stopped us and asked if we wanted to go to Act. I declined. He said that the club was going to be open til 5AM and said that my friend would definitely "get to the front of the line" because she was drunk. OVERALL Act isn't a nightclub to visit if you want to dance. Rather, it's a spot to hangout at after a show if you want to sip a few drinks and watch some entertainment. Maybe a place to checkout if you weren't able to grab some tickets to a Cirque du Soleil show. But after my recent experience, there's no way in hell I'd come back here.
