| - Some of the best sushi in town, right up there with Yasu, Hana, and the like. Unpretentious (I dare say "bare bones") strip mall spot with about 12 tables and maybe 18 seats at the sushi bar. Not a scottsdale scene at all. Good $10-18 lunch specials that are large and hearty. Sushi prices are about average for the valley. It's always fresh, always high quality, and always delicious. Hiro watches over the show and makes sure all the quality is up to his standards. There's always something rare or unusual on the specials board that other more standard sushi places would never carry (like conch, giant clam, jellyfish, toro, etc). Service is ok, though the servers tend to be a little confused and try to do too many jobs. If you're at the sushi bar just ask your chef and he'll set the servers straight. It can be crowded at night so be sure to call for a reservation if you're more than one or two people. Only complaint I have is that the cooked food from the kitchen doesn't keep up with the quality of the sushi. Cooked food is kind of an afterthought here. They have some standard items but if you're looking for something adventurous or a nice steak this isn't your spot. But if you're feeling sushi, go here for sure.
