| - Moore hassles, Moore expensive repairs, Moore disappointment.
I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler JK with a lift kit that was not done at Moore. I was having some creaking noise in the front, plus I discovered that my drivers side brake line was getting rubbed whenever I turned my wheel far left. Also, the Jeep was pulling left, so I thought it might need an alignment, too. And my wheel sensor light keeps coming on. Now, I would have brought my Jeep to the guy that originally did the lift kit, but he died in a tragic accident. So, knowing that Moore also installed lift kits, I thought they would easily be able to handle these problems. I didn't know how wrong I could be.
After evaluating my vehicle, they determined that the creaking noise was coming from a track bar and since they did not install Rubicon Express kits, they would not be able to replace it. But they said they could order me one, and it would take about 5 days. Well, I know that RE has a lifetime warranty, so I declined to have that done until I could find out if I could get a warranty replacement. Fair enough.
I was then told that my alignment isn't a problem and that it is perfectly good. The reason my car was pulling left was because of the tires. They recommended that I rotate the tires. I cautioned them that the last time I had the tires rotated that the problem was worse, apparently because the tires were out of balance in the back for some reason. They assured me they would make certain all the tires were in balance. Ok, great... rotate the tires and let's solve that problem.
They suggested that the brake line problem could be solved by putting a rubber cover over the brake line. That seemed reasonable since the original brake line, which had a rubber coating on it, was worn and exposing the braided line underneath. I also asked them to move the line so that the problem won't happen in the future. Ok, great... put a new rubber cover over the line and move the line.
This is where the agony begins........
Now, as far as the sensor was concerned, they said that only one sensor was bad and that it would need to be replaced. How much ? $178 !! I told them that I didn't need a new tire, just the sensor. Yep, $178. NO WAY! Are you kidding me? I told the service advisor that they should be ashamed of themselves trying to rip off people for that kind of money. He ignored my comment. (Just for reference, I called Big-O tire and asked them what it would cost to replace a sensor. $80 they said. So, Moore wants to charge more than DOUBLE the cost at Big-O.)
I get my Jeep back and drove home. Yep, the creaking is still there, but there isn't anything they can do about that. I understand that, and its fine. At least the tires are balanced and I don't have any shaking in the wheel. Good!
But wait.... they rotated the tires and said my alignment was perfectly fine, and yet, my Jeep is still pulling to the left. OK, tried it on a couple different roads. Nope, still drifting left. Dammit!
Parked my Jeep in the garage and decided to check out the repair on the brake line. Much to my SHOCK and UTTER DISGUST, they "repaired" it by putting a four inch piece of hose that they split down the middle, placed it over the abraded area, and then secured it with zip ties! And guess what? Now, when I turn the wheel far left, the zip tie touches the wheel. So, it won't be too long until that fails. Oh.. and here's the best part (insert sarcasm) they charged me $60 for this hack repair !! $60 for $4 worth of parts that I could have done myself. And they didn't move the brake line to prevent a problem in the future. They effectively put a friggin' Band-Aid on the problem and charged me $60 but didn't solve the problem!!
Yah, I called the Service Advisor and complained about the fact that they didn't fix the drifting left problem and they charged me so much for this crappy little repair. He almost seemed offended that I was upset. He told me that the tech that did the repair is gone for the day. He did offer to have me bring it back the next day, and would give me a rental free of charge. But, I was going to be busy the next day and could not do it at that time.
What they should have done was fixed it right the first time! Now I should have to go back, let them hack my truck again and inconvenience me some more? I don't think so....No, scratch that. I'm certain I won't be back.
I should have asked them to credit, at a minimum, the $60 for that so-called "repair" on the brake line. But I don't want to deal with them ever again. I know I will never return, and I will tell all my friends about my experience, too. And based on my experience, if you have read this entire review, you might want to consider finding someone else.
