Went there for lunch last Friday (4/22/16) after hearing coworkers race about this place. Was super excited. I ordered the shorty bowl with an iced tea and my friend had the fish and chips with a lemonade. First, greeted by our waiter and his trainee. They got our drinks and her lemonade looked like water. Tasted like water with a hint of lemon. We ordered. I was told the shorty bowl was the best thing on the menu. Great!
Food arrived and I was excited! I couldn't even stomach it. There was a grit throughout every layer in my bowl, as if maybe the arugula wasn't washed? It was disgusting. We waited for our waiter to come by, but the place was filling up with the lunch crowd. Crickets (for us anyway).
My friend liked the taste of her fish and chips but the batter was super thick. She literally took the fish out and showed me the thick shell of cooked beer batter.
Finally the trainee re-appears and takes our dishes. Mine was hardly touched and didn't even question if everything was ok, or was there something wrong. I expected a whole different level of food and service with public school...certainly didn't live up to what I'd heard
Giving 2 stars for just wanting to like the place versus the 1 for the gritty sand filled dish.
