| - I stayed at the Hyatt Hotel back in November for IMATS weekend. It was with in walking distance of the train station (about 30 minutes), Eaton shopping center (about 15minutes), and metro convention center (also 15 minutes, also right next to the CN tower). I arrived around 1pm and was able to get into a room right away. When i got up to the room, it was a little bit tricky to find, but i managed.
The room was a good size, decorated very modern chic. The bathroom was fairly small though. There was also water on the counter top and floor (i assumed someone did a messy job cleaning, but it looked like a child had just washed there hands and had a little to much fun doing so.) The biggest disappointment however was the bathtub, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned, and the plug didn't work at all, so it was showers for me that weekend. I didn't bother complaining to the front desk as i was only there for 3 nights, nothing i couldn't get over.
In the room you have to pay for wi-fi, but it's free in the lobby. the bed was fairly comfy, although i should have brought a pillow, i used all 7 on the bed and it stlll wasn't comfy. The sheets were full of static and pilling like crazy, but they kept me warm at night so i didn't wake up freezing.
However on the first night there i did wake up at 1am, to the sound of an alarm fairly similar to the one in silent hill. I could hear doors opening and closing in the hall and was extremly confused, i had no clue what the alram was for. So i got up put on boots, a coat, and grabbed my wallet, walked outside my door, waited for someone else to do the same. I asked them what was happening, if it was a fire alarm, they believed so. (which i was not happy about because that ment we had to walk down 16 flights of stairs). Just as we were about to start going down the stairs an announcement came on, about 15 minutes after the alarm had started to sound. They told us to stay in our rooms until furthur instruction. This announcement then played on loop for a good 30 minutes, with the alarm. Then the message changed to there is an alarm situation on the core floor the fire department is on their way to asses the situation, which played with the alarm for a good 15 minutes, which then changed to the fire departmen is heere to asses the situation (also with the alarm). By about 2am the announcements stopped and so did the alarm, and 15 minutes later an announcment came on that said the situation has been handled we are sorry for the inconvience. ... That whole situation i found to be very unprofessional, it took to long to explain the situation o guests and i did not at all enjoy only a sorry for the inconvience at 2:15am when i had to be up at 6:30 that morning.
The rest of the nights was fairly quite, i was really only in the hotel to sleep. On my departure day i was up bright and early, went downstairs to get my $200 deposite back (as i didn't give a credit card). They had to check my room first however, half an hour later the guy still hasn't come back and i had to go catch a train so i wasn't happy at all. Particularly as my room loked like it hadn't been touched. So i was pretty ticked off so i went to the man at the front desk and i was like i need to catch a train and i would like my deposit back, and he said well the man checking hasn't called back yet. and i said i was told it would only take 10 minutes and had been waiting half an hour. He called the man, but no reply, so he relcutently gave me back my deposit. (which was a little ridiculous, i mean they had a copy of my drivers lisence and all my personal information and i had been waiting far to long).
So the customer service could use some work, they should get sheets made out of a diffrent material (to avoid pilling and static), and need to work on cleaning their bathrooms.. all seem to be fairly common complaients amongst gusets. I would never pay full price to stay here, its not worth it, i got a deal on a travel website. But its a fairly decent hotel, don't really get the 4 star claim, most seem to agree its not worth more than three.
