| - I normally wear contacts, and with my insurance, I can only opt for one or the other, but not both. It's been years since I've gotten new eyeglasses (something has been wrong with my current pair---it's a permanent smudge, it's hard to explain, but it is annoying because it affects my vision/clarity). I checked with my eye doc and the lenses alone were about $130. Sam's Club was the same price. So a few days before we were to leave on vacation (end of January), I call them to see if I can get in on that advertised special of 2 pairs of eyeglasses for $78. The person I spoke with told me to come in. I head over one night (it's empty, no customers, just employees), and I don't have the right thing (the prescription is for my contacts). The man at the desk advises me to call my eye doc to get the right one (for eyeglasses) but in the mean time, I head over to the two racks---lots of name brands and choices here, pleasantly surprised, (2 for $78) to select a couple pairs, one bulova deep plum and funky green ones that my son picked. He holds them for me. The next day, I send over the prescription to them. That night, I get fitted, answer all the questions (just keep saying NO to all the upsells; something about the lenses might make my eyes look abnormally large---I don't wear these outside of the house, so for inside, it's fine), and pay for the goods (about $85, with tax). On both nights, there was only one other customer besides us. It's a big store, lots of seating along the front door, clean too, and the various price displays for eyeglasses are clearly advertised. Hubby said that there are more choices for women, as the mens selection (special 2 for $78) seem to dominate with the wire trimmed kind. The next day, hubby picks them up for me, no issues. Tells me (1) that the clerk advised for me to wear them both to see if there are any differences in strength, to come back (if there is) and (2) I can still opt for the extended insurance within the next 30 days. I am pretty happy with them, but I still need to test the other pair. I did bring one pair for our trip, and so far, no issues.
Tips: (1) If you want them that night, you should get there by 5 pm, because the techs get their stations ready for the next work day and they leave soon after. (2) Closed sunday.
