If I could sum Yama up in one word, that word would be overrated.
I feel slightly biased because I have two regular AYCE spots that I go to, but I wanted to branch out and see what else the world has to offer in terms of sushi and Yama is a favorite among my friends, so I gave it a shot.
We came in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch and were promptly seated. The servers were very attentive. We ordered the Double Dragon and No Name rolls first. They were amazing!! It was a great start to our lunch. Those were the only things that are keeping this review in the positive. Everything seemingly went downhill from there.
Every other roll we ordered after the first two mentioned were not good. Slimy in texture and a little overdone. The Volcano roll had huge chunks of cucumber that really took away from the entire roll. We couldn't finish and were okay with the fact that we would have to pay extra. Our bill came and we were charged for the Volcano roll - they charged us $12.95 for a roll listed at $9.99 on the menu. The price was adjusted with no problem, but the fact that something like that could happen leaves a bad taste in my mouth, just like their sushi did.
Needless to say, I didn't find Yama special at all and I won't eat here again.
