I didn't know this before, but I guess AMC's Classic moniker means they're dirt cheap and won't do the renovations you'd expect literally everywhere else. At least there's still the pick-your-own-flavor Coke machines.
I can't blame AMC for this, but construction made this place a maze to find. From parking next door in the validated garage took maybe a 5-10 minute walk just to get inside.
With AMC Classic, you're getting a movie theatre from the 20th century. There aren't a lot of options for tickets - hell, there isn't even a converted IMAX theatre. But the great thing is that it's reflected in the ticket prices as well. All the matinees were basically $5, and we got to see Star Wars on a pretty decent screen.
My only major regret is seeing Star Wars and learning how to hate, but AMC Classic is a decent enough companion for that journey. Not a bad option by any means if you live in Downtown Phoenix. I would go more often if I didn't burn my ticket savings in gas money getting there.
