| - Be prepared to feel pressured into buying. If you're just wanting to test drive, the salesmen will not treat you fairly. We went to AutoNation to test drive two specific cars. We were visiting multiple dealers to check out what kind of car would work for our family, and were not necessarily ready to buy that day. We let our salesperson know we were primarily there to test-drive, but we were looking to buy very soon. He was great--very friendly, and knew the answers to all of our questions about the cars. When we arrived back to the dealership after the test drive, he had us sit at his desk, most likely to talk pricing. After speaking with his manager, he informed us that the car we wanted had been sold and there was nothing he could do for us. We returned a week later to test drive something else. The same salesman approaches us and we explain what we want to do. He immediately changes his tune, saying he has an appointment and because of what happened last week, he cannot help us. Funnily, the exact car we looked at the previous week is still sitting in the lot, not sold. He gives us to another salesman who brings us to his desk. We tell him the specific cars we want to test drive, and he instead starts talking to us about financing and monthly payments. He makes various comments about time wasted, and can't find the keys to either car we are looking for. After an hour of back and forth, he takes us to a car that is 3 years older and 30k more miles than what we asked for. We suspect the previous salesman had warned others we weren't intending to buy, and we were not allowed to "waste" anyone else's time.
