| - Whoa....this is a great place. I had seen on Yelp that they have live music on Friday nights, so we decided to give it a try. First, when you enter, the owner Charles, is right there shaking your hand, welcoming you. We got there about 7:15 and Acoustic Mayhem was playing and continued to play until we left at almost 11 pm.
I am always on the hunt for a relaxing, casual place, with a good band playing. I think I found it here. Since it was my first time I asked Charles if they did wine dinners, he said not really. That their kitchen was relatively small and that they have become more of a music destination. So, its hard to shut down the restaurant for a wine dinner. That makes sense and I can completely see that people come here for the music + wine and food. Over the course of the evening, several people just drifted in to listen to the music. He said they typically have live music every night except Monday.
Food choices here are typical wineshop fare, a few appetizers, flatbread pizzas, salads, some small entrees. We had the mediterranean dip, 2 kinds of hummus and an onion, tomato, cous cous something. I thought it was unique and very tasty. My wife and I shared the Beef Tenderloin entree. We prefer small portions, so the plate was perfect for us to share. The beef was very good. Then we had a chocolate mousse cake. Again, very good. Two bottles of Pinot Nior, and that makes a great evening.
To top it off, we told Charles that we were from Alabama. An hour later he joined the band and sang a song, "for the couple from Alabama". How awesome was that?
I will caution that this isn't a quiet place. The band keeps things lively. The sound level in the restaurant was higher than average. Its not an all out party, but its also not your typical quiet wine shop setting. If you are looking for a live music, intimate venue, this is the best I've found in Charlotte.
