I've been to Nola's a few times before and have always had good experiences. The fully stocked bar always has a "relevant to the season" selection of Craft Brews and the staff is courteous, knowledgeable and professional. They offer a New Orleans Nouveau Creole menu with live jazz on select evenings. The outdoor seating with a view of the bustling Market Square presents a wonderful atmosphere (if you're lucky to get a seat) on a hot summer day while the interior provides a feeling of being in a tavern on Bourbon Street (I know, I've been there too).
A couple of days ago during my lunch break I had a hankering for something spicy so I headed over to Nola's and ordered up a serving of the jambalaya. It took only about ten minutes for a hot cast-iron dish to be placed in front of me filled with shrimp, scallops, chicken, andouille, veggies and of course beans and "dirty" rice. The spices blended together to make the meal flavorful without being too spicy... a delicate line to tow. It was truly delicious; I know I'll be back again. Perhaps one day I'll muster up the courage to try the Frog Legs or the maybe the "Crispy Fried Alligator".
