  • Well, I can promise that I'll never go back there again. The quick story is that the service there is utterly deplorable. I can't speak to anything else. I took a Samsung receiver* in to get a service estimate because it's outside the manufacturer's warranty but within the grace period offered by my credit card (if you didn't know that existed, I highly recommend you check it out!). Here's my story: -Brought the receiver in and left instructions concerning the service estimate. They said it'd "take no time" to look at. -A week later, I called back to check on the status only to find out that the tech in charge is currently on vacation. Fine. -Got a call a couple days later to pick up the receiver. It's apparently not worth repairing, which is amazing news, so I'm in a good mood. -That mood changes though when I arrive to find out that the tech (or whomever) had sent the service estimate *somewhere*. I left with a broken receiver (which, from their estimate, will forever remain broken) and instructions to call back the next day. -Called back, talked to the tech, found out that he didn't send the estimate anywhere- he archived it in the back room and it'll take some time to now dig out. I ask to have it faxed to me when they find it. -One week goes by, still no phone call. I call back to find out they're still looking for the missing estimate. -Another week goes by (well, 12 days in total), so I call back. The tech informs me that the estimate is sitting in front of him and waiting to be picked up. -I request, once again, to have it faxed. -A copy comes through with a *giant* black mark down the center. It obscures the not-so-irrelevant point about the receiver being unserviceable, so it's completely useless to me. -I call the tech back and, to my utter shock and dismay, he figured the fax was garbage. His words: "yeah, it looked like it was missing words or something." -So, the service estimate that matters most can't be emailed to me, I don't trust them to fax it again, and I consequently have no choice but to make another trip into the store to pick it up, just a little over a month after I initially came in. -Fail. I can't speak to their prices, I can't speak to any department other than service, but I can tell you that my experience with Kromer Radio was the first and last one I'll put myself through. Take care, -Ryan *I should also point out that the reason I went in there was to service a garbage Samsung AV-R720 receiver that stopped producing sound (kind of important for a home theatre system) after 15 months of use. Their warranty is only 12 months, so they kindly told me to go fix it myself. This is not-so-cool because a quick Google search of that model number will show pages of people experiencing the same issue I did. Samsung doesn't think it's their issue though, so owners are out of luck. I'm not sure how many of you have receivers out there but a one year lifespan for these things is absolutely unacceptable- especially when the reason they can't fix my unit is because the parts aren't sold separately! It's literally the same price to replace as it is to repair. If I could write a similar review about the disappointment that is SAMSUNG, I certainly would.
