| - I was between three or four stars for Patisserie 27 and decided to err on the side of positivity.
The pastry shop is small, but clean. There is a clean washroom and a few attempts at decoration.
Their offering quantity is scant. The lady (who works next to the man) is Japanese, but there really is not anything here that would be Japanese. They have croissants, pastry, coffee and macarons. The sole hint at anything Japanese is a yuzu macaron. I don't appreciate macarons so skipped that went with a lemon tart and, per the lady's suggestion, a berry tart.
They are both tasty and not small. Those are good things. Unfortunately, they were $5 each approximately... Pick a few items and the price can add up.
The tarts are comparable to Mon K, as is their offering... Like Mon K they have a couple of tables and not much more. Coffee and juice is also available. Just Like Mon K they do not accept credit cards... hmmmm I wonder why...
Finally, just to confuse everyone they are also not open on Tuesdays now. Japanese businesses are always cool and welcome because they offer tasty menu items and are clean, but the hours are consistently all over the place and change all the time. This reflects a 'mom and pop' mentality as opposed to a business discipline. if this were a Chinese business they would be open 7am to 11pm every single day, which would be easy to remember.
Finally, parking is a problem here, but hey what else is new. This city has too many cars and not enough transportation options.
