| - First impressions can set the tone for anything. The first impression I got with this establishment and room were by far the worst first impression that I have ever had. So much so that I was excited to leave the next day.
When I walked into the hotel I was greeted promptly and hurried through the process. I was given my room information and was basically just kind of shoved away from the desk and then ignored. Thanks, I'll be sure to make sure that I ask for assistance from you again.
I thought to myself, brush it off, that doesn't mean anything. Then I opened the door to my room. I mean if I were to judge this room on a quick glance, A+. But you can't do that. When I got in here and decided to do a once over and take in this unique space, the truth slowly emerged. First off the room is set up kind of weird like. Reminding you of a studio apartment more than a hotel room. Living room/kitchen when you first walk in, flowing to a desk that also is to double as a wall from the bedroom which flows into this wide open dead space where the closet is hidden in the corner.
I go to start putting my things where I want them for the evening and start to find some disturbing things. At first is was a paper on the floor that didn't make it to the garbage. Then that went to a candy wrapper not discarded to many other items kind of pushed by a vacuum under the bed, and to top all that off, a container of cheese sauce still sitting on the nightstand shelf. Gross. But the rubbish doesn't stop there. I went to go set up my laptop on the desk and found a keycard for the room next door on top of the lampshade. That then prompted me to check the door to the adjoining room. To my surprise, it was unlocked. So my next door neighbor for the night could have came in my room at any point if I had not checked.
I then headed to go hang items up in the closet and had the dirty linen from the pull out sofa bed fall out of the closet into my face. To say I was irritated was beyond an understatement. The bathroom looked like it was used by children as a playground due to the fact that the liner was basically ripped from the shower bar and a majority of the rings were bent to the point where they wouldn't clasp.
Another thing that could have been handled differently but wasn't was the fact that there were no tissues in the room. I had gone out to grab some food and when I came back I stopped at the front desk and asked for a fresh box of tissues. After letting them know that there were none in the room the older gentlemen now manning the desk smiled and said he'd grab me a new box. Instead of getting a new box, he turned around, saw an already opened box sitting at the front desk, grabbed those and handed it to me. Uh...
I see most people complaining about the train here, not me. Even though my room was close to the tracks I didn't even notice the train. I heard more from the car traffic than I did of the train traffic. What people should be noting or complaining about is the state of the rooms and noise level within this place. To try and placate everyone they put these generic laminated memos in every room asking that you pardon their construction.
