Mac and cheese by definition is comfort food. The Mac & Gold Truck made that fact doubly so with one of the daily specials I tried the other day: The Polish Hill Mac.
My creamy spiraled mac and cheese was topped with kielbasa, onions and bits of potato hash, perfect for a breezy October day in the Strip, and especially as a Polish food-loving yinzer. I stopped by for lunch when the truck was parked at Neighborhood Flea. My hubby got a plain mac topped with chicken.
They also scored points by selling Red Ribbon pop, distributed by Natrona Bottling, a great local company.
While the food was delicious and served with generous portions, I think I equally loved the fact that it was served in cardboard box with lid flaps. Once I was full, I just closed the lid of the container and reheated amazing leftovers for dinner.
Prices were a little high mac and cheese, ranging from $5 to $8.50 meals, but all in all it's a truck I'd definitely be on the lookout for again at future events.
