| - I know this is long but if you're considering getting a cake here, please read. I truly, truly wanted to like this place. The people seemed nice and I really thought they would come through for me.
So I called on Monday and asked if they could have the cake ready by Wednesday and they said they could. It's was my brother's 21st birthday so I wanted to do something special and get him a really cool cake since we usually get a simple cake from Safeway or fry's. I knew it was going to be more expensive than our normal cakes but I was willing to pay for a special cake. I ended up coming in the next day to explain exactly what I wanted and the ideas really seemed to come together. Each extra decoration was more money but I wanted it to be special so I sucked it up and paid for the cake. It came out to a whopping $91, still, I paid and even added a $13 tip for the girl being so nice and seemingly attentive to the design of the cake.
Flash to today and it's been a week since I asked for contact with the owner and still have not gotten a call or email. Admittedly the cake looked pretty good, but that's where it ended. They did screw up the decoration of his age which was an important part of the cake. I specifically asked for a King and an Ace because that would equal 21. Not only did I ask for it in an email there was also a picture that the decorator ended up printing out and even circled the exact part I wanted so there's no way it could have been screwed up, right? Wrong. The day I went to pick up the cake it had a 2 and an Ace which equals 13. I was asked to stay while they ~tried~ to fix it, it ended up not being able to be fixed and I was told to call back and talk to a manager.
When I took the cake home everyone thought it was cool, I apologized to my brother for his cake saying 13 and not 21, we moved on. We cut into the cake and it did not taste like we expected which I told a manager when I finally got a hold of one after a week long game of phone tag. She told me it was a personal preference that made us not like the cake. Had it just been a couple of people, ok, but not 7 of us. At that point it's not personal preference, it's just nasty. My 8-year-old cousin wouldn't even eat it!
I asked for at least a partial refund for the messed up decoration and the cake being nasty. I was told they give refunds bit not for not likening the way the cake taste. I couldn't even get a refund for the decoration THEY messed up. I was told that's what I asked for when I have email proof that it's not. The decorator argued with me saying I said "I don't know much about poker" which I did say but knowing how to play poker has nothing to do with knowing how to add cards. She took no responsibility for HER screw up. I asked for the owner to contact me and so far, nothing. All together spent $104 on this little messed up cake and for that kind of money I expect an amazing tasting cake. Like I said, I really wanted to like this place but this was the worst experience I have ever had with a business.
