A Delicious Deli in Central Phoenix. Who knew? Apparently a lot of people, because Scott's Generations Restaurant & Delicatessen has been in this part of town for quite a while. And the quality of the fare and the service is probably why.
Scott's is a pretty standard New York deli, overall. I can't say that there are any really unique offerings here, but everyone in my group enjoyed their meals. Like any Deli, the food is plentiful, and diners will most likely be heading home with leftovers.
The server was awesome. Really friendly and quick. The staff didn't show any annoyance with my 3-year-old daughter not wanting to sit still before she got her meal. She wasn't loud or rambunctious, but was getting in the way some of the time. They just smiled and moved around her. A nice woman at the counter even came over and gave her a cookie.
The only negative I can think of is that Scott's isn't open for dinner. I'm not in this part of town very often during business hours, and it's a bit out of the way to just grab some breakfast or lunch. The bakery selections in the counter display also weren't overly tempting, but I didn't have any room for desert, anyway. Maybe next time. If you grew up eating Deli like I did, then this is a must-try restaurant.
