  • My experience was very similar to Samantha A's review. I am new to the area and hadn't found a dentist yet, but was overdue for a cleaning. I made an appointment for a cleaning at this office. I was very clear what I was there for. Without asking me, they did super fancy x-rays that my insurance didn't cover, but clearly knew what my insurance did cover because within 5 minutes of my brief visit with the dentist to review my x-rays, the receptionist provided me with an estimate of a laundry list of services I needed done, including an extra special cleaning because it had been "so long" since my last cleaning (12 months) that they needed this special cleaning (also not covered by my insurance). They also found a cavity and some cracks in one of my molars, but didn't find a problem with a tooth I'd complained about for years. He confirmed the "bruised root" diagnosis because my x-rays apparently didn't show anything. Of course, all this took so long that I couldn't even get the cleaning I had come there for in the first place. They didn't have time, they said. I had to come back. First I came back for the cavity, because I don't want to mess around with that. Naturally, while he was doing the procedure he found he had to do some extra special kind of filling, which bumped the bill up another $60. He didn't ask before doing, he just did. Second, I went back for the extra special cleaning. Then I went back for the "real" cleaning - the one thing I had wanted all along. Each time, I paid at the time of service, because they ran everything through my insurance and knew what needed to be paid, but somehow, it was still wrong, and I got yet another bill. So, for those of you keeping score at home, cleaning my teeth and one cavity fill has cost me almost $500. That's not even including what my insurance paid. Now, the cavity he fixed has been randomly throbbing and causing me pain, and the "bruised root" I mentioned above was too. I was too scared to go back because I still hadn't even saved up enough for the other $500 worth of work (after insurance pays half of that) for the alleged cracks, when I broke a tooth - the one I've been complaining about for years that has the "bruised root". Now, in his defense, he's the second dentist to not notice anything wrong with that tooth, but for the extra fancy 3 D x rays I paid for, I'm a little miffed that it was missed. While I honestly cannot confirm such an accusation, I almost wonder if he did see it, and knew it was going to break, and he could charge me more for that than to fix. Purely speculation on my part of course. Not saying that is what happened, but all the extra charges I had already incurred were enough that trust is broken. I couldn't go back to him for this large of an issue. I've found another dentist that came highly recommended to me as honest and never does extra work that isn't necessary. That's the kind of dentist I need. The two stars because everyone in the office is very nice, welcoming, and pleasant. I'll give them their due for that. Just be sure to have a wide open budget or supreme insurance before going to see this guy because you're going to pay dearly.
