| - Pretty cool place to hike. It is definitely not the hardest hike ever, but there are large rocks and boulders to climb over, loose rocks all over that you need to watch out for, and of course flies and bugs like other hikes.
If your goal is to see the waterfall then don't go in the summer, it is all dried up, nothing much to see. Definitely check the weather before you decide to go, its about 1 1/2 mile out in the sun then the 1/2 between the mountains so this part is shaded... can get hot pretty quickly when you are going uphill and trying to climb over boulders. But still a great hike for a workout... I feel like this hike is a full body workout, obviously lots of leg work, used my arms and body strength to pull myself up and over large boulders.
When you get to the base of the waterfall, you will have to climb over two "walls" to get to the bottom of the waterfall, not sure if you were supposed to go all the way up there but we did. Since the waterfall was dry I think it was easy for us to climb all the way to the base, not sure it would be possible if the water is flowing.
MAKE SURE you keep track of the trail, we got lost and went off the trail and took a much more rough trail to get back to the car. You can't literally get lost because there is one way in and one way out, but there are easier paths than others. We pretty much had to climb and craw through branches, trees, bushes... got cuts and scrapes all over because of the plants and the cacti.
I would recommend going with a friend, especially if it is your first time or you want to climb all the way to the bottom of the waterfall, it is just more safe that way.
