My son bought a used Mazda. The engine light on his Mazda was on. Gyro performed a diagnostic test for about $150 and said they could fix it for about $1500. I told them it was an older car and that I didn't want to put money into it if they couldn't fix it. They assured me they could. After paying, I drove the car and the engine light was still on. I immediately notified Gyro and they said to drive it for a few km and then advise if it was still on. It was. They were repeatedly unable to fix it. Then they told me that when they actually looked under the hood they saw that some prior mechanic had welded something improperly. They said would confirm that in writing. Then they changed their mind. Then they said they did a vehicle check and the car had been in an accident. That they didn't do the checks before they quoted and agreed they could fix it is unfortunately poor service. They refused to refund me any money saying the service manager I had dealt with was no longer with Gyro. I don't know if he was fired and they are evading his promises, or perhaps he quit because he didn't like their ethics. Anyway, I am suing them in small claims court for a refund.
