| - Erm, this place is amazing! I had been wanting to try it out for a few months and finally got the chance to last Thursday with my friend. I could see how this place could get super busy because we arrived at around 6 p.m. and there was a line of about 10 people(which we were actually REALLY stoked about because it seemed relatively short compared to what line hell I`ve read about here on Yelp). Anyway, we did wait about 45 minutes and looked on in a semi hangry daze as people took their sweet, sweet time even after they were done eating(please don`t be these people). I did talk to the guy in front of me in line and he raved about their pan roasts and gumbo, so this solidified my commitment to steel myself and wait it out like an adult instead of bailing and eating something less satisfactory.
When we were finally seated, our order was taken right away(Combo pan roast, oysters, beer. Please)and they brought us a little loaf of sourdough bread with butter. You would have thought we hadn't eaten in days by the way we tore into our bread, but seriously the smells at that counter are ridiculous and can make one lose their damn mind. We chatted, drank, and ate bread(I even ate just butter at one point because I was really hungry. Don`t judge me). We were brought our oysters about 15 minutes after sitting down and we dug in. Here is the thing: I do not enjoy offensively large oysters, so I wasn't thrilled. There were some medium ones that I enjoyed, but overall, I wasn't impressed. There was also a lack of that salt water goodness on the half shells, so I would pass on the oysters themselves. Just my personal opinion. About 15 minutes after that our food came. The contents of the bowl was plenty and HOT(Be careful. Don`t be like me and burn yourself). After some cooling down, I dug in and it was heaven. Spicy, creamy, seafoody, savory. It was an experience. There is a big lump of rice right in the center of the bowl and this really made the dish that much more. You need that rice to sop up the spicy saucy sexiness of that pan roast.
It was a lot of food for me and my friend helped me out and he agreed it was amazing. My last gripe is that my beer was finished and I wasn't asked if I wanted another for a little while. I get it, it's busy, but pay attention to me! Anyway, I got my beer and I actually took it with me as to give others a chance to sit down after I was done eating(You should be like me and be considerate).
I would come back just for that pan roast and I would wait longer than I did to get it again. I do want to try their gumbo and jambalaya as well. I need another oyster bar food baby soon. Any takers?
Definitely a must if you're in Las Vegas.
