  • I'd like to be under the sea, in an Octopus' Garden in the shade. Took a friend for a belated birthday to Ripley's Aquarium of Canada on Saturday, January 25. We decided to get there by TTC instead of trying to find parking nearby and paying an arm and a leg for it. It's located right at the end of the Skywalk, so if the weather is bad you only have a short 5 minutes walk to the entrance. Do buy your tickets in advance to avoid the long lines to buy tickets in person. We were lucky and only had a half hour wait but have had other friends had to wait almost 2 hours to get in. I have to say that all my friends really loved this attraction. All the tanks are are quite interesting from the Canadian waters to the tropical reefs. I loved being able to touch a horseshoe crab (hard shell), small shark (felt like a cat's tongue) and the rays (wet mushroom). The highlight is of course the moving sidewalk through Shark's lagoon. We went around twice because there is just so much to see and take pictures of. It really lends itself well to video. A nice place to take a rest for awhile is the giant jellyfish tank. They have two rows of seats to watch the colour changing show. Quite the Psychedelic mind trip without the drugs. If you are on a budget be advised that the exit goes through the gift shop and your little ones won't be able to resist the cute and cuddly stuffed sea animals. All in all a great new attraction for Toronto. I loved it! And yes there was even an Octopus too!
