  • o.k. before I write a review...I don't go to a lot of museums and it's not my thing, though I have been to the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, Russia, which was absolutely the most amazing one ever, so it is hard to compare anything to that one..it is possible I am way out of my swim lane in offering my opinions regarding my experience in this one. I saw ads about the Ocean of Light exhibit so made the trek to this museum. First of all, I paid for two admissions because I missed the sign that if I had come after five it would have been free...so wish I had seen that and I would have waited til 5 pm. So, we walked into the first exhibit which had some neon lighting and lots of TV screens showing random pictures and videos...it was cool to look at, not sure what the deeper meaning was. There were a few interesting pictures on the wall of random stuff...I was put off by some pornographic sketches of sexual organs and acts...something you might see scrolled on a bathroom wall in a junior high..not sure why that would be in an art museum...but hey, what do I know. The Ocean of Light exhibit was cool, they have strings of lights hanging from the ceiling and calm music playing, and the lights are synchronized with various patterns, and if you walk between the strings of lights, they light up around you. We sat there for quite awhile enjoying the lights, but I was thinking what I would do if I could program the lights...like crazy sea creatures depicted swimming around, or a war of two different colors of lights that eventually blend together, etc...it definitely made my imagination come alive. The music was pretty bland....would have liked more exciting tunes. The rest of the exhibits were strange...a chair with chewed gum on it???? If I had known you could just put random crap together and get it in a museum...I missed my calling...I can definitely do that. Anyhow, I am sure this museum has interesting offerings, so I will keep an eye on it and you can't beat free...if you go at the right times and days.
