Do not make a mistake --- what you save is not worth the headache!
First, they are very inflexible. My friend booked the car two weeks ago using her credit card --- but we wanted to charge my credit card --- and they could not do it. They said that if they charge my card, it will be considered a walk-in and therefore will be charged at a different cost --- which was twice the rate.
Second, since we were not very familiar with the different models of cars, we asked if we can see a photo of the car that we rented. The girl at the counter said that an economy car is the Mazda 5 -- which can fit our four pieces of luggage. So when we finally finish at the counter, we go down to the garage and we were shocked to see a small tiny car. It was a Mazda 2 instead of a Mazda 5. Our luggage will definitely not fit. So we had to go back up to the counter.
The girl who handled us was gone (good for us since she clearly did not know what she was doing) and spoke to the manager. They said that economy was Mazda 2 and not Mazda 5 but we argued that we were misinformed. At the beginning, they were going to charge us additional fees and they only backed down when we said that we will complain to Amex since we only booked them since they were suggested by Amex. Finally we get our car but we wasted 1.5 hours.
A week after, when we returned the car, the girl who first assisted us was at the counter. And the first thing she told us was "I never told you it was a Mazda 5" --- OMG! We just ignored the comment. Then she goes on to tell us that we were late by 30mins in returning the car so she will charge us and additional $6. So we told her to go ahead and charge us. And then she changed her mind and did not.
For a car rental that just opened, (the balloons from their opening were still hanging at their counter) --- they should be all out on customer service to build a name. Clearly, they are not out to win customers.
