| - Went because me and my bf are BIG fans of the Goose Island beers, and to be honest the beers are still phenomenal. The house originals, which you can only get on sight are AMAZING especially the raspberry table beer, which is a light and refreshing taste of summer. If this review were just about the beer, it would easily be a 5/5 but since this is a review of the whole experience, this is why it only gets three stars:
The food menu is limited. Very limited, and that's half of any brewery restaurant experience! So limited in fact that it's only 2 sandwiches and mussel frites and 3 or 4 apps and one (prosciutto only) eggs benedict. I got the Chicago dog, which was good but small (like the size of a small hot dog) and definitely not worth the $15 I paid for... If I hadn't upgraded to a side poutine for $3.00, I would have definitely been hungry for more. My bf got the Reuben sandwich, and it was good... but unlike the pictures from the reviews of Blogto and NowToronto which show a meaty sandwich, it was FULL of fat (probably 60%). It's unfortunate, because they share a kitchen with bier markt, and we were looking on as the bier markt patrons were getting served FULL meals. I hope that the owner does good on his word and provides Chicago style deep dish pizzas and expands on their menu in the future ( I was so excited about this restaurant opening I read all the press releases and published reviews beforehand) . If they do expand the menu, I will gladly come again. For now, Goose Island brewpub is still more brewery than pub and a better place to get after-dinner drinks than dinner itself.
