  • I don't even know where to begin here, except to say that we spent only 9 hours at this hotel, and that was more than enough. We ended up at the Omni by giving Hotwire a try - and this ended up being our mystery supposed 4-star hotel. Suffice it to say, I've stayed at Hampton Inns that were nicer. The Omni is stuffy, dreary, outdated, and overpriced. The halls and rooms have a that certain eau-de-old going on, and the only visible decor update since this place opened seemed to be the fresh, white shower curtain. Everything else screamed 1979. If you've read my hotel reviews in the past, you know I'm a sucker for hotel robes. The Omni has some of the creepiest robes I've ever come across... they were just really weird. Wearing them felt more like being at the doctor's office than lounging in a "luxury" hotel. The robes stayed in the closet. We could see the rooftop pool from our window. Granted, it's the off season, and no one's swimming right now. But this was the smallest, bleakest hotel pool I've seen in some time. It would, however, have made a fantastic set for Law & Order SVU. That said, the rooms were clean enough (if very sad and beige), and the man at the front desk at 2am was very kind and chatted us up as we checked in. For that, I grant the third star. Next time I think I'll just pay a little extra and pick my hotel out on my own.
