I have been a big supporter of Drug Mart for decades, vocally praising them to lots of people as a better alternative to the mega-chains. Even living far from Drug Mart in California, I tell lots of people how much better it is than the CVSes and Walgreens around. However, tonight's experience has soured me on them for good.
I went to pick up prescriptions for my elderly mom, who I'm visiting to help her rehabilitate from joint replacement surgery, and who was discharged today. Prescription pickup went fine. But I forgot to bring my phone, tired from two days bedside at the hospital. Then Mom's car wouldn't start. The store manager refused to let me use a store phone to call Mom (a local call) to try to get help with the car. The manager was ok with leaving me helpless. An employee kindly let me use their personal phone.
The decision to abandon the customer and have absolutely no concern for the elderly person waiting for help, refusal of the simple act of decency to allow me to get help making one stinking local call for help has soured me on Drug Mart forever. Good riddance, Drug Mart.
