  • I took my wife's car in because the check engine light came on and I am on top of this stuff. First, I had to wait about forty-five minutes before getting service. Once they took the car in they came back out and told me it was going to be about $1200.00 to fix everything? Really? they said that the car needed new strusts and an alignment. There was an allged vacuum leak, and the list went on. I stopped for a second, took a breath and explained to the "service" manager that the struts had been replaced two weeks prior in Montana before we moved to Las Vegas. Second, the alignment was done at the same time along with the brakes when we got new tires at Les Schwab in Missoula, Montana. I went down the list calling his scam. Finally he just got p*ssed at me because I called them out in front of a lobby full of people and told me it would be $160.00 to for the tech to run the computer for the check engine light. I paid and left. I took the car to Autozone on S. Rainbow. The manager puts it on the computer... for free... takes it off, walks around to the drivers door, opens the gas tank cover, unscrews the gas cap, takes it into the store, comes out with a new gas cap puts it on and low and behold, the problem is gone. The gas cap was not seated properly. That was the "vacuum" problem. Oh and I forgot, Ted Weins wanted to charge us $200.00 to replace the spark plugs. I picked the pre-gapped plugs up at the same Autozone, and replaced them myself for $20.00. Ted Weins is a rip off factory. I generally don't do my own repairs because I have the money to not have to do them myself anymore. I will never recommend the Ted Weins on Wigwam, and probably would never recommend any of them to anyone. This was my second scam operation in Las Vegas. I was losing hope but I finally found a decent mechanic who does a great job, isn't the cheapest but stands behind his work.
