Decided to check out all the hype - not bad. First observation is that the hotel lobby (which is the way I opted to enter the restaurant - I did not notice the exterior door) is probably the most unimpressive that I have ever seen. You struggle for a moment to get your bearings - then you catch sight of the venue.
Place is sort of hip - but it fails in my mind to convey an ambiance where you would be inclined to spend 3 to 4 hours of your evening "soaking" it up. Has more of a "grab a drink and find the next place" feel. Once I got by that, I settled in and enjoyed the food.
Menu is limited and it tries a little too hard to be cool. Food we had was good but not memorable.
It is one of the many new eateries in the general Phoenix downtown area, specifically the City Scape area. It will likely fair well simply because of the proximity to the Kimpton Palomar Hotel - convenience will be its underpinning.
Will be back to give it another try. Maybe happy hour.
