| - After consulting with FIVE OTHER orthodontists, my hubby, myself and, more importantly, our 8 year old kid ALL agreed that Dr. Shipley was our choice!!!
It was very confusing because each orthodontist had different treatment plans. We met with an "elite" with major 'extra' credentials AND with a few of the highest rated with large number of reviews AND with one recommended to us by a dentist friend of the family. A few of the treatment plans were similar and a few were way different. Dr. Shipley's treatment plan was in line with those that were similar, yet it was a bit more aggressive (critical considering our kid's situation) and it made the most sense to us. We actually met with him twice because this is such a big decision and we wanted to be certain we were making the right choice!! Dr. Shipley was very patient and took his time with us both times. He explained things in detail and he won our trust!!
But...we hadn't jumped the gun just yet despite the urgency of our kid's situation (his front teeth were hitting against each other, wearing the teeth down). Again, it is such a big decision and a long-term commitment ad we were struggling making a choice! Then, it was the push we needed: I posted an outdoor grill on Offer Up. The guy shows up to buy the grill and he is sporting braces. I asked him who he is using for his braces and he responded that he is using Dr. Shipley! He HIGHLY recommended him!! We were SOLD (pun intended...I sold him a grill...grill...haha...another pun LOL)!!! It seemed like fate to us. This random guy shows up at our house and recommends our preferred choice, Dr. Shipley!!
It seems every orthodontist is trying to draw kids to them in a different way, a way of making the experience more fun and acceptable. One has fresh cookies. One has an entire upstairs full of arcades games. Others have this and that. But, our kid LOVES that Dr. Shipley offers ICE CREAM!! When I say ice cream, let me clarify: Dr. Shipley has a HUGE ice cream deep freezer with LOTS different ice cream choices!! Our kid looks FORWARD to going to his future appointments!! Dr. Shipley indicated that ice cream was his choice because often the kid's teeth are sore and the ice cream soothes. Brilliant, I say!!
I also noticed that Dr. Shipley had some fliers throughout his office inviting his patients to a private showing of Incredibles Two!! Apparently he rented out the theater for his patients!! We weren't patients of his at the time, but we were highly impressed! Apparently he actually appreciates his patients!
Today was our initial visit to get things started! I am very confident that we made a good choice choosing Dr. Shipley!!
