| - Tiny portions, expensive, and slow service.
We arrived on a Friday evening around 7pm, and there was only 1 or 2 other customers which makes me question how this business survives. The restaurant is located beneath some apartment buildings and is not easily identifiable from the street. Not a big place and not fancy, the carpet and decorations are dated and dirty. The walls are hand painted with large golden circle motifs that look kind of messy. Our waiter, a young arabic man, actually told us that the food isn't so authentic because they adapt it to suit its clientele. Our table of 4 was comprised of caucasians so I guess we got the "white" menu...
We ordered an assortment of dishes, all of which appeared to be cooked from scratch since we were the only ones eating and it took forever to arrive. Some of the cream sauces in our main meals were underseasoned and diluted. The butter chicken and shrimp korma, which is a yogourt based sauce- was excessively sweet. I think something a little cooler or tangy would have been better. Each dish is around 12-15$ and you have to pay extra for your side of naan bread or rice, which are about 3 to 4$ each, so it's pretty pricey and in order to be full, you may need more than 1 main dish.
They have some combo meal options meant for 2 people that are your best bet if you want to try a variety of things. These are served with appetizers, 2 main dishes, naan, rice and a dessert although the sweets are joke- It's a tiny piece about the size of your thumb, resembling nougat.
I've had much better indian food, I felt like I wasted a couple hours of my time and especially after paying 70$ for 2 people, it sucks to leave hungry.
