| - OD Candria Meharry-Krywko is very unprofessional. She conducts herself like a used car salesperson. She lacks any care at all for the medical condition or visual condition and needs of her patients. She fails to even double-check her tech on RX, and instead relies solely on a trained tech to provide your entire prescription.
First, she is not honest and up-front about the fact that she "only fits scleral contact lenses and does not fit Rigid Gas Permeable lenses at all", despite knowing well in advance of appointment I was seeking to update my RGP lenses, which I have worn for years. I was willing to try the newer scleral lenses, but she did not even provide informed consent about the risks associated. I asked her for literature on the lenses, which she said she did not have, nor did she discuss any aspect of the lenses, except many people found them more comfortable. I researched online at home and found some potential, serious risks of scleral lenses, which she did not disclose (corneal nerve damage and long term lacrimal duct damage). I sent the link I found my contact there, Theresa, who conducted my "dominant eye test" necessary to ordering lenses while she was 30 miles away, by phone, while I was sitting in a grocery store parking lot.
Second, I brought my 87 year old father to this office for double-eye cataract surgery and Candria Krywko, OD missed the fact that he has corneal erosion (Fuch's Dystrophy) on dilated exam, advancing him to cataract surgery in both eyes with DR. DENNIS KILPATRICK, who places his surgical practice screening in her hands.
I later discovered that cataract surgery is contraindicated in patients with posterior corneal erosion.
SAVE YOUR EYES, INSURANCE BENEFITS, MONEY AND TIME AND BYPASS THIS OD. AND THIS MD. Both show extremely poor medical judgment and very poor patient care. I will be forced to make an AZ Board of Optometry complaint against her to regain the exam benefits she billed but DID NOT PROVIDE A PRESCRIPTION. Also, she failed to provide a temporary; pair of contact lenses, as promised, necessary to tide me through until a new appointment and new insurance could be obtained. This woman is a nightmare. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
I'm not even going into the horrible staff experience with Theresa, who nearly harassed me with calls at least 9 times in the 2 days following the exam, once call which required me to pull over during driving to conduct a "dominant eye test" on myself in a local grocery store parking lot, under the direction of the billing coordinator, Theresa. THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY.
My father, who as I said, was also seen is a retired ER MD of 36 years. He firmly believes the entire practice, including Dr. Dennis Kilpatrick, is incompetent. . Why else would Dr. Dennis Kilpatrick rely on such a poor representative, Candria Krywko, OD, to run his practice and screen his cataract and other surgeries? Why else would he tolerate such unprofessional, unethical and even hostile treatment of patients? THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL DR. KILPATRICK WHO FOUNDED THIS PRACTICE and who retired in 2015, which I just discovered online. Kilpatrick Sr's. medical training was at UCLA and he hails from the Midwest, completely different background and training than the current Kilpatrick running the practice, Dennis Kilpatrick, MD.
It looks like I will be forced to file a complaint with the AZ Board of Optometry and possibly other licensing bodies in order to recoup my families (3 patients I sent to them) VSP and medical benefits, receive temporary contact lenses necessary to tide me over until I can get a new policy in place and a new OD appointment (about 3-4 weeks) but I will never regain my time or that of my family, which was not only wasted but actually served to completely ERODE ANY TRUST I HAD IN the profession.
PUT ON YOUR TENNIS SHOES AND RUN from this practice. I am actually very concerned for the very elderly, some even fragile or frail, patients I saw while I was there. MOVE ON. There are many other providers in the Valley. SIMPLY NOT WORTH THE RISK, THE MONEY, WASTING ANY BENEFITS YOU MAY HAVE and the EMOTIONAL DISTRESS OF DEALING WITH THIS PRACTICE AS IT CURRENTLY RUNS UNDER CANDRIA KRYWKO, OD AKA CANDRIA MEHARRY-KRYWKO, OD IN NY STATE AND NV. If I could give less than a score of 1 star, or a negative star score, I would do that as it would be more accurate.
