  • This was my daughter's 1st car experience and unfortunately a very sad one. The 1st original salesman was wonderful, he built a great relationship with my daughter -- all was fine. We completed 2 visits to the same person and all went well. Tonight was our final "do the numbers" visit so we brought along Dad, we all were in great spirits;0) Went for 1 last testdrive then returned to the dealership and the 2nd "closer/manager" guy appeared out of nowhere, no introductions nothin. With no warning this manager aggressively pulls my daughter's credit report and says "uh your credit report has a "derogatory rating." He opened poorly, did not introduce himself and had to have the last word with each of us. He proceeded to build his case of how he knows her credit is poor, I disagreed and said it was incorrect and he argued with me to say it's clearly on paper. In this day and age we all know of identity theft/fraud -- it is not unheard of to have your name unfairly tainted by another person. After continuing to explain how she could not afford the car, and that she is not the 1st college grad to try and avail of the promo offered - he continued to push the high monthly payment and said she could pay that price for about 10 months and he could pretty much guarantee a refinancing deal for her to bring down that monthly. Now unless he's a banker -- he cannot and should not make such a claim to lower a payment after the car has been driven off of his lot. As a Mom it was horrible to watch this person explain to my daughter how desperate a situation she is in and that making a $350+ monthly and doing an insane down payment -- was the cost she had to make to be happy and that he is her only hope as he explained she would be treated the same at any other dealership. My husband painfully watched this man continue to hurt my daughter with his words but knew this is the sort of hard lesson she must learn in order to overcome the worse behaved individuals in a soured industry that is more concerned with their bottom line then with the individuals who walk through their doors. My daughter cried as I knew she would and my husband, her 2 brothers and I worked all night to console her and reassure her that not all dealers are like this -- we said, "You'll see honey in the morning when we go to another Honda dealer that there are some nice folks who will take the time to make your experience an enjoyable one." She stopped crying and said, I didn't expect that Mom that's why I didn't fight back, it's so stressful looking for a car." We are going to Earhhardt Hyundai tomorrow to a salesperson we love and who can sell Honda -- we are going to turn this thing around for our daughter!
