| - Took my first class here today after purchasing a trusty Groupon to check it out with little financial commitment.Who wants to spend their life savings upfront? Aint nobody got time(or $$) for that. Certainly not me.
I called yesterday to book today's class(Beginner Aerial Silks)and had the pleasure of having a quick and super friendly chat with Benji, one half of the dynamic duo who owns this place. Benji was incredibly personable and enthusiastic about getting me set up for my first class. He was able to get me on the schedule for the next day(today), which made me happy because it was very last minute but he made it happen.
I was pretty nervous coming here, not knowing anything about silks or being up in the air, dangling by some fabric. That and there is always that risk of a studio being pretentious or uncomfortable. I was quickly put at ease upon meeting the other owner, Karley, who seemed very friendly and easy going. She gathered my Groupon information and gave me a very quick tour of the facility and then I was able to grab my spot.
The class size is VERY small(5-6 people), which I like quite a bit because it allows for personalized attention/help from the instructor and I don`t want 30 people watching me struggle my first time doing something I`m already dicey about. All is well that ends well, though, and I was really pleased with the way the class was structured. There were a few of us who had never been there before and a few who had, who were getting crazy flipping themselves around while I was simply hoping I wouldn't fall and break a limb. It was nice to have everyone sort of working at their pace, doing their own variations with Karley's guidance. Oh, a good portion of the beginning of class(which ends up being like half the class really) is conditioning and warm-up exercises. I can appreciate this because I feel like it really preps your body to start the more difficult stuff(Lawd my upper body strength is shit and this class certainly reminded me of that). I did learn some basic foot locks(is that the correct term? Don`t judge me.) and got some lift off the ground, which is pretty neat. In my mind I was a circus performer(key phrase: in my mind).
Overall, a very good experience. Next class is booked. This location is FAR from me. Super far in Vegas traffic hell, but an awesome experience that I look forward to having again. Friendly, clean, no asshole attitudes from the staff. A+ Check it!
