| - Self service dog wash is terrible, especially for large dogs. I was also pretty disappointed with the customer service (read on). After calling to inquire about their wash stations to make sure they could accommodate large dogs, I took my Lab and my Belgian Malinois here to give them both baths. The tubs are plastic, elevated off the ground, so there is a flimsy ramp that your dog has to walk up to get inside. I was given a choice of VERY watered down shampoo mixtures in their own containers - clearly, they diluted them to save product and therefore money. I had to use most of one whole bottle to even get a bit of a lather.
Luckily, my Lab is an older dog, pretty calm, and I had no problem bathing him. It was a different story with my Malinois - I could barely get him to go up the ramp. Once I finally did, I attached his collar to the restraints, but barely got two minutes into his bath when he jumped out, causing the entire tub to flip over! I fixed the tub, tried again, but no luck - he just jumped out again, the tub flipped over again, and he almost injured himself since he was still attached to the tub. The store employees were nice but couldn't really offer much assistance - I don't blame them for that. At that point, my dog was wet and had soap all over him - so I could have left, but it wouldn't have been ideal. I saw that the hoses that ran from the tub went into a stall shower on the side of the room, so I asked if I could finish rinsing him off in there. They agreed, so I had to push him inside, and bend over very uncomfortably, to rinse him enough so that I could take him home.
I feel that the store should not have said that their dog washes could accommodate large dogs or at the very least, should have warned me that a really active dog would be hard to bathe in them. It's not uncommon to have a dog who hates getting a bath, and these tubs simply aren't made for dogs that aren't calm during baths. I also was a bit irritated that they still charged me the full bath price for my Malinois, despite the fact that he didn't really get a full bath, and me having to incur total discomfort to finish rinsing him off in a stall shower. That's something that I could have done at home.
The store itself was cute, clean, and had lots of treats and toys for dogs - so this review isn't a reflection of the actual store. I just would never return based on this experience.
