| - From the get-go, I got a bad vibe when it came to Dr. Semrad. I couldn't describe for what reason, or why I felt off-put by him; but Womens Intuition proved true, once again!
I first began seeing Dr. Semrad at the beginning of my Second Trimester of my first pregnancy. Our first appointment went fine. I felt a little lost because I wasn't given very much information on really anything regarding my pregnancy. I also informed him that I was concerned due to the fact that I am Anemic, and have faced some problems in the past as a result of my Anemia. He shrugged it off and said that usually women don't become Anemic until their third trimester. When I further explained that this is something I've been dealing with long before pregnancy, he changed the subject. - Following my brief appointment with Dr. Semrad, I had to have blood work done by his Phlebotomist, which I have never been informed of the results.
During my second appointment, I informed Dr. Semrad that I had been breaking out in hives all over my midsection and the lower half of my body. I also explained that I had not changed anything in my daily diet, and that I only use "free and clear" detergents. He recommended anti-itch cream.
I left feeling disheartened, again, because I want help to find a cure for whatever was going on, not just mitigate the discomfort. - I began to realize that if I wanted answers, I'd just have to do my own research....which, defeats the purpose of PAYING someone to do so for you.
My third and final appointment with Dr. Semrad, started an hour late which was just completely infuriating as I had the first appointment slot of the day, and he was standing in plain view of the waiting area, where I sat glared at him for the entire hour as he wasted my time. - When you set up an appointment with this office they are very strict on the patient in terms of punctuality. They even remind you to arrive 15 minutes early to ensure that you are seen on time. If the patient (aka the people who are paying you) is required to show up on-time, and even early, the doctor needs to be held to those same standards.
One week following my third appointment, I began having some serious pain in my upper right rib-cage, that would last for hours and hours. I did my own research (because I figured that asking him would be pointless) and confided in a few women who all suggested that it sounded as though I had gallstones. I called Dr. Semrad's office in hopes that I could schedule an appointment to come in and talk about the issue. Dr. Semrad declined and advised me to "use a heating pad, and if the pain doesn't go away, go to the Emergency Room." I asked again if I could please be referred to a specialist, in which it was repeated that my options were heating pad, or the ER.
I tried the heating pad for two weeks, before I called and explained that I was still suffering from sharp pain underneath my ribs. I asked, AGAIN, if there were any way that I could be seen. Again, the answer was heating pad or the ER. At this point I was completely done. What is the point in having a doctor if they do not wish to help you? Why would I want a hospital bill, if you could just write a doctor's order to an imaging center, where we can get a definite answer?!
I can't believe what a lack of care he has for his patients, and I will be sure to inform anyone and everyone who is looking for an OB to steer clear of this doctor.
The only way I can describe Dr. Semrad is lazy and negligent.
