| - I would say this was a 3.5 star experience, but thanks to the great Yelp discount, I'm rounding up. I typically do not stay in hotels when traveling, since I can usually do a condo exchange for very cheap. The Platinum has many of the condo amenities that I'm used to, and which you typically won't find in a hotel, so they get major points for that. The kitchen is a decent size, with fridge, microwave, stove, and a teeny little dishwasher. They have dishes and cooking implements in the room which is convenient, if a little lacking (no bread knives, for instance).
We were given a room on the 6th floor, with a view towards the northern end of the Strip - lovely! The road noise was noticeable, but not a problem. The bathroom is huge, with a super soaker tub and a large shower. Unfortunately, we had issues getting the water temperature in the shower to stay consistent (but the shower head itself is great), and my sister's bath was short-lived due to the water becoming smelly as the tub filled. We had two queen beds, very comfortable, and a nice mix of firm and soft pillows. One of my favorite things is the super-dark curtains, perfect for letting you sleep in after a wild night out!
Other things:
POOL - Pretty nice, and I like how they have the indoor/outdoor pool connected. The pool is on the 5th floor, so you get a slight view of the Strip. Towels are available at the pool, so no need to bring one from the room.
STAFF - Mostly good, a couple misses. The housekeeper was efficient, friendly, and sweet, and everyone we ran into on the elevators or walking down the halls was friendly and cheerful. Check-in, however, was rather slow and inefficient, and we tried to order room service for breakfast one day and we could never get through (constant busy signal). The valet staff was incredibly hard-working, especially in the heat, but they couldn't really keep up with everything, especially since the resort is valet park only.
LOCATION - Really good - about a block and a half behind Bally's, so not too difficult to walk. I love having a place where you can walk to the Strip but not be exposed to all the lights/noise/craziness when you just want to hole up in your room and sleep.
Bottom line - if you want something conveniently located, casino and smoke-free, and an apartment-like suite with a kitchen, all at reasonable prices, Platinum is a great choice.
