I love watching A Christmas Story on TBS but this is a bit of a tourist trap. As others have mentioned, the filming wasn't even done in the house, so you are just there to see the outside. Classic tourist trap. Driving in is annoying, since its basically a long street with cars going both ways despite the fact that its as wide as a one-way. Street parking is available for free. People will charge $10 to park at their house.
For FREE, you can park, take a picture with the house including the leg lamp prominently in the window, and get going for half an hour of fun.
If someone pays to park on a busy day ($10), does the tour for their family of four ($10x4 = $40), and buys something from the overpriced gift-shop (as fun as it is, I guarantee all of this stuff is available online for a fraction of the price) your day could be unnecessarily expensive.
