| - I was in there tonight looking for a night table. I like Pier One. When you walk in you are bombarded with tons of colors....cushions, candles, fabrics, and oh yah there is a strong smell of a somewhat sickening combo of scented reed diffusers. They have a great selection of stuff from furniture ( hell ya I have a papasan chair) down to glassware and cutlery. They pretty much have everything. One really nice thing about pier one is that the quality of their merchandise is generally quite good. The prices however reflect that. You are unlikely to get a screaming good deal on things unless they are on sale - but that said they always have excellent markdowns on things ... I love poking around the clearance section of any store and Pier one is no exception. i bought a decor piece tonight that was reg $18.99 it was marked down to $4.68 and when the kid rang it in, it was on $2.98... WOW. Hell I love a bargain.
That brings me to the service....now normally I would give my other Pier one a 4 star rating, but this one tonight had particularly slow customer service. There was one young guy working the till ( not his fault) and their was a line 5 deep ahead of me. After waiting in line about 3 mins ( which always feels longer) this woman strolled by - no name tag - no nothing and picked up a phone from behind the counter and said " Michelle come to the cash we've got a humongous lineup. She then sauntered off - looking as miserable as when she first strolled by. She reminded of a character out of a movie- the boss from hell, who didnt lead by example and clearly didnt give a F&#K about the staff or us. Yes, I am making assumptions here, I know...but she had about as much positive energy as a teenager on a sunday morning at 8am. Michelle then appeared and quickly started ringing things in...she was sweet. Too bad she has to work for Cruella De Ville. When I was rung in, I got the young guy - who apologized for the delay...very nice of him to acknowledge the wait - most people , like myself are reasonable and a simple comment like this means alot.
So Pier One... I like your products, your a tad pricey, you have awesome markdowns, at this location some nice young staff - and a manager who should take a lesson in customer service...all she needs to do is watch her staff deal with the customers. Thanks Kids. Boo to Cruella....
