| - I'm going with a middle rating because had you asked me last year I would have given it zero stars, but our most recent visit was 5 stars so I will do 3. In the Kannapolis area South Ridge Vet Hospital has the best rates for pet euthanasia and cremation. Last year we had to put down our dog of 16.5 years and this was our first experience doing so. He was old and in his final days had seizure after seizure with difficult recoveries. He did not need an exam as I stated on the phone when I made the appt. SRVH has a nice small room for the families to gather with their pet to say goodbye. The vet that entered the room did so with immediate attitude that was inappropriate. She made a terrible and heart breaking situation so much worse than it had to be. She made callous remarks to my teenage children who were crying. She put her stethoscope on my dogs chest and looked at his teeth for literally a second and tried to charge us for an examination fee $65! She acted put off to be there and any questions we had were met with sarcastic remarks. Plain and simple it was horrible and made me question why my neighbors would recommend this vet hospital for this procedure. I believe the vets name was Kay Dobson. I was going to report her but needed time to process and heal first. This past month our second beloved dog suffered from fast growing cancer. We had her operated on at a different vet we went to in March, but the cancer came back with a vengeance. When it was clear that our girl was suffering we made the decision to euthanize. Calling several vets in the area it was South Ridge that had the best prices and offer the ability to get your pets remains back. I reluctantly called to make the appt. I told the receptionist that I did not want the vet that we had for our first dog and she replied that that vet was gone. We all went in with our beloved girl to say goodbye. They escorted us back into the room. The vet techs that came in were kind, quiet and calm. The vet that came in was Dr.Niday. She was perfect. She was so gentle and so kind, to our beloved dog and to myself and my children. My daughter through her tears thanked Dr.Niday for making the beyond difficult process bearable. The day was so heart breaking but we left there knowing finally why our neighbors like SRVH. Thank you Dr.Niday. HOWEVER, when I went back a week later to pick up my dogs ashes, I saw the first vet we had the horrible experience with the first go round, speaking to some people picking up their dog. I'm not sure why her picture and bio would be off the website now, and I was told she no longer worked there, to see her working there a week later. So be warned, if you have the heart wrenching decision to euthanize your pet, be careful of which vet they send in the room to do the injection. It could be the worst experience or it could be the calmest and kindest.
