  • One of the people I was rollin' with said he'd been told of a fantastic Thai place, and since no one in my group had an idea of where else to go for dinner, we went to Lotus of Siam. I hadn't known what the name of the place was, and got excited when I saw a Thai vegetarian place in the same strip mall, but no. Waited a while, with the employees not freaking about my friend's skull makeup and a male friend wearing short shorts, and were seated. Not so much available for the vegetarians, and a lot of Thai places will specifically have a menu section for us herbivores, but not here. Ended up picking yellow curry and some dish with flat noodles and fried tofu. The curry was very very mild, and I'd wanted mild, but jeez. You could've fed that to a baby. Still good, though. The noodles were great: tons of tofu, which wasn't in those chewy fried triangles you get so many places, and lots of crunchy fried garlic bits to accentuate everything. My friends enjoyed their various dishes; one friend generally hates Thai food other than tom yum soup, but she liked that and the other stuff they got (fish, beef-stuffed drumsticks, and gross fried shrimp with their legs still on). I'd go back, but I wouldn't suggest it, only because my choices were so limited.
