One star is way too generous a rating. Bait and switch on price, rudeness, and lying. Beware!
We arrived to find the car we had reserved, was not available and we would need to take something smaller. No big deal, but we asked for a discount. This request triggered outright rudeness from the representative, Charles.
We had an "estimated cost" of $233 for a SUV coming into the office. When we left Thrifty we signed an "estimated cost receipt" for renting a smaller vehicle for $404. When we went online to our credit card company the actual cost was $466 - exactly double!
We had spent a lot of time looking into the car rental in advance of the trip. The reason thrifty was so affordable was because they aren't telling you the real cost.
We decided not to rent the car but the representative would not void our charge so we had to call our credit card company to have them call Thrifty to do that.
When we waited to talk to the manager we were with other unsatisfied customers that had complaints about the employees not acknowledging full tanks of gas, about them being misleading about insurance, etc.
We were three women renting a car who were treated exceedingly poorly and I can't help but wonder if our gender made a difference in this experience.
For your sanity, for your overall trip experience, for the world - don't rent from Thrifty!
