White Rock Loop is a great hike for many reasons. This trail is a loop, so no in and then back out the same way you came unless you want to turn around. You'll get to see a variety of things on this 6 mile hike around the White Rock Hills including plenty of plant life, sandstone and limestone hills, archaeological sites and you just might even see a bighorn sheep. I start at the Willow Springs Picnic Area and then head clockwise to get the uphill part of the hike out of the way. It's best to start early in the day because it does get hot as the day progresses and having plenty of water and sunscreen is essential. Towards the end don't forget to stop and see the agave roasting pit and petroglyphs. Not far from there you'll find tables that are perfect for a post-hike picnic. They have trash cans near the picnic tables, so don't forget to clean up after yourself so others can also enjoy this beautiful area. The trail is dog friendly.
